CPA.VIERACPA.COM: First $2,400 of Unemployment Benefits Tax Free for 2009
First $2,400 of Unemployment Benefits Tax Free for 2009
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act makes the $2,400 of unemployment
insurance exempt from tax,” said IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman. “I urge all
unemployed workers to take this special tax break into account as they plan
their tax withholding and quarterly estimated tax payments for the year. This
change offers a helping hand to millions of Americans who are out of work and
struggling to make ends meet.” Please visit our site for more information www.vieracpa.com.

I do not understand only 2400? People who are on unemployment get a max of mid 400s. If you take the taxes out what are you left with 350 maybe? So most Americans prob did not take taxes out just to help to make ends meat. Now you want them to owe the government a couple of Ks when most still do not have jobs. You have got to be kidding me. I guess if I had billions I would get a break like the banks did. Reply to this

Will Jobless STUB Pass? - Wait or File? Its already Jan 28, 2010 and what about this new 100% tax free unemployment bill for 2009 being advocated by Unemployment Gone Mad? Millions of us face this question - Will all the unemployment benefits be retroactive to tax free status not just the current mentioned $2400 deduction? This new bill proposal I have read about is called the Jobless STUB 2009 Tax Free Act . Should we the long term jobless wait before filing to see if this bill or one like it passes to avoid an IRS debt and collection. Unfortunely millions of us have most of their income if not all in 2009 from unemployment compensation and did not withhold from their checks in order to survive. Thanks Mr CPA ...
